Podcast: Ka Brazen Podcast,

Episode: Mekatilili

Host(s): The LAM Sisterhood – Aleya Kassam, Laura Ekumbo, and Ann Moraa

This podcast beautifully showcases children's stories from the heart of the African continent. Originally centered around Swahili, it now offers translations in English, opening the door for all kids to connect with these incredible tales. This evolution is inspiring; children who haven’t learned Swahili can still experience the magic of the stories, and those who choose to learn later can find the original narratives a wonderful guide. It’s truly a fantastic resource for nurturing young minds.

I envision a future where these stories are accessible on devices like Alexa, allowing families to immerse themselves in bedtime tales right at home. The thought of Tata and Grandpa adapting to this new role makes me smile! I’m genuinely impressed by the passionate women behind this project; I fondly remember the three of them at the launch party during the Africa Podfest Day festival in Nairobi, an event that used to illuminate February.

Recently, I had the privilege of tuning into a panel discussion where they shared their inspiring journey and current projects. Following the APVA group on Twitter could lead you to even more conversations about this remarkable endeavor.
